Palancas Negras/André Macanga urges Florentino Luis to choose Angola

Former captain of the Angolan national team, André Macanga, has called on Florentino Luis, the 25-year-old defensive midfielder from Benfica, to consider representing Angola on the international stage. Born in Lobito, Angola, Florentino has so far played for Portugal’s youth teams but remains eligible to switch allegiance to his country of birth.
In an interview with A Bola, Macanga emphasized Angola’s growing competitiveness as a national team, presenting it as a compelling option for the Benfica star.
“We now have a united and ambitious team with clear goals,” he said. Macanga believes Angola could offer Florentino a central role and a platform to further showcase his talent.
He also questioned Florentino’s prospects with Portugal, where competition for midfield positions remains fierce. “Portugal has many players for his position. Waiting for an opportunity there may not be in his best interest, especially when Angola is ready to welcome him and give him a vital role,” Macanga stated.
As Angola continues to strengthen its squad, the potential addition of Florentino Luis could be a significant boost, aligning with the team’s aspirations to rise in African and international football.
