The lineup for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is complete, with 24 teams set to compete in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

While the tournament promises intense competition, notable absences include heavyweights such as Ghana, Guinea, and Congo, who failed to secure qualification.

Host nation Morocco automatically qualified and will be joined by defending champions Côte d’Ivoire. Other early qualifiers included Burkina Faso, Egypt, Algeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Senegal, and Angola.

These teams were later joined by Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Uganda, South Africa, Tunisia, Nigeria, Mali, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Comoros, Sudan, Benin, Mozambique, Botswana, and Tanzania.

The tournament marks a historic opportunity for teams like Comoros and Botswana, who will aim to make their presence felt on Africa’s biggest football stage.

Meanwhile, perennial contenders such as Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria will seek to add another trophy to their illustrious histories.

With Morocco hosting the competition for the first time since 1988, anticipation is high for what promises to be a thrilling showcase of African football talent. The stage is now set for an intense battle for continental supremacy.
