Niger: Consultation between the government and trade unions to improve workers’ daily lives
On Monday, September 23, 2024, the Prime Minister of Niger , Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, chaired an important meeting between government officials and the country’s main trade unions. This dialogue is part of ongoing efforts to promote consultation and cooperation between the authorities and workers’ representatives to address the concerns of the labor force.
The meeting, initiated at the invitation of the Minister of Public Service, Labor, and Employment, marks a significant step in the government’s commitment to strengthening social dialogue. The General Secretary of the Democratic Confederation of Niger Workers (CDTN), Mr. Idrissa Djibrilla, spoke after the discussions, highlighting the importance of the initiative. He praised the government’s openness to workers’ demands and acknowledged the progress made, especially regarding the regularization of pensions and salaries.

The unions called for negotiations with the Interministerial Committee to address these issues in greater depth.
