Burkina Faso/Mali: President Ibrahim TRAORE’s wish for bilateral parliamentary cooperation

Facing the Burkinabe and Malian parliamentary delegations on Thursday, July 25, 2024, President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, expressed his desire to see cooperation ties strengthened. It is noteworthy that there has always been a cooperative parliamentary relationship between Burkina Faso and Mali.

For President Ibrahim Traoré, reinforcing this bond will allow the two countries to pool their legislative resources to quickly establish a system of good governance within their states and effectively combat corruption in their public administrations, a fight to which the leaders are firmly committed.

According to the president of Mali’s National Transitional Council (CNT), who was on an official visit to Burkina Faso, President Ibrahim Traoré invited them to strengthen the parliamentary ties that have always existed between the two countries, which will soon extend to their neighboring brother country, Niger.

In essence, he announced the imminent establishment of a parliament for the Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). This shared vision by the highest authorities of the AES member countries aims for the perfect mutualization and coordination of parliamentary actions to strengthen ties within the Confederation and achieve effective integration of the peoples within the Sahelian region.
