Togo : Official launch of construction of 21 bridges
After the signing of the financing agreement for the project 9 months ago between the Togolese Minister of Economy and Finance, Sani Yaya, and the French Ambassador to Togo, Augustin Favereau, the construction works of 21 bridges will finally commence. The official launch event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in Kolidè, a locality located about 230 km from the Togolese capital, in the Ogou 2 commune of the Plateaux region.
The kick-off will be given by the President of the Republic, Faure Gnassingbé, thus marking the beginning of a major project for Togo’s infrastructure. This project aims to improve connectivity and accessibility in different regions of the country, particularly on the Elavagnon-Ogou Kolidè-Gbagbadjakou stretch, which is 25.2 km long.
The works will be executed by the French company Matière, specializing in the construction of crossing structures such as modular steel bridges. This internationally renowned company will bring its expertise for the realization of 21 mixed steel-concrete modular bridges of the uni-bridge type.
The 21 bridges will be distributed across the 5 regions of Togo, with specific localities already identified for their construction. This project will have a significant impact on regional connectivity, facilitating the movement of populations, the transport of goods, and thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
