Togo : Faure Gnassingbé’s efforts for sustainable development of the country applauded by world bank representative

According to Ousmane Diagana, Vice President for West and Central Africa at the World Bank, during a working visit to the Togolese capital, « reforms and investment in human capital are progressing remarkably ». In clear terms, the representative of the global financial institution commends the efforts of President Faure Gnassingbé and his government for the sustainable development of Togo.

In line with his government’s roadmap, President Faure Gnassingbé has undertaken reforms in key sectors of the country in recent years. In implementing this roadmap with the support of partners including the World Bank, the Togolese government has emphasized access to basic social services, creating conditions and opportunities for youth employment, financial inclusion, and women’s empowerment through projects and programs, as well as modernizing agriculture.

Additionally, Lomé has made sustainable and inclusive economic growth a priority. Significant investments have been made in economic infrastructure such as the Autonomous Port of Lomé, thereby stimulating the transformation of the national economy. Furthermore, President Faure has worked to create a conducive environment for private investment through public-private partnerships.

The most significant reforms that have accelerated private investment in the country include the peace and stability policy advocated by Faure Gnassingbé. Thanks to these reforms, economic operators and investors have chosen Lomé as the « Investment Capital » and a land of business opportunities.

Therefore, the working visit of the representative of the global financial institution was dedicated to assessing the actions taken and supporting the World Bank in key sectors.
