Algeria : Promotion of Dairas in Wilayas Delegates, a major decision of President Tebboune for local development

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune signed a historic presidential decree on Thursday, December 28, 2023, promotion of seven administrative districts (daïras) to the status of delegated provinces (wilayas déléguées). This initiative aims to enhance local development and improve the administrative management of the country.

According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic released this evening, the seven daïras promoted to delegated provinces are as follows:

  1. Aflou district in the Laghouat province.
  2. Barika district in the Batna province.
  3. Ksar Chellala in the Tiaret province.
  4. Aïn Oussara and Messâad districts in the Djelfa province.
  5. El Abiodh Sidi Cheikh district in the El Bayadh province.
  6. Bou Saâda district in the M’Sila province.

This decision aims to bring the administration closer to citizens and stimulate economic and social development at the local level. Additionally, President Tebboune has appointed delegated governors to lead these new delegated provinces, selecting competent and experienced officials to ensure effective and efficient management of these burgeoning regions.

The newly appointed delegated governors are :

  1. Ben Merah Younes, delegated governor of Aflou (Laghouat).
  2. Boudheb Essaïd, delegated governor of Barika (Batna).
  3. Daoudi Toufik, delegated governor of Ksar Chellala (Tiaret).
  4. Allouache Boualem, delegated governor of Aïn Oussara (Djelfa).
  5. Daoudi Adel, delegated governor of Messâad (Djelfa).
  6. Mouden Abdrebbi, delegated governor of El Abiodh Sidi Cheikh (El Bayadh).
  7. Ben Ahmed Riadh, delegated governor of Bou Saâda (M’sila).

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to effective local governance and marks a significant step towards strengthening administration and supporting socio-economic development at the regional level.
