TOGO : Former Students of EPP Gbonvie 1 Refurbish Their School
The Public Primary School, EPP Gbonvie 1 A/B, is undergoing a transformation. A renovation project for the educational institution started on Saturday with the support of a group of alumni living outside of Togo.
The work began with the erection of a fence and the construction of new latrines. The refurbishment project for EPP Gbonvie 1 stems from the gratitude of former students towards their alma mater. It also signifies their commitment to preserving the educational heritage of the community.
To ensure the well-being of students, the new latrines adhere to the required sanitary standards. Out of the planned 100 million F CFA for the complete rehabilitation of the school, 10 millions F CFA have already been invested in the construction of the fence and latrines.
The project, also taking shape with the support of Togbui Desiré Odadjé, Chief of Gbonvié, and the Neighborhood Development Committee, is a source of pride for the learners and the community.
Togbui Desiré Odadje expressed his gratitude to the former students for their commitment to improving educational infrastructure and commended their community involvement in local development.
« Such actions are important to stimulate sustainable development in the community and encourage future generations to pursue their educational dreams. We thank this diaspora that has partnered with us for the development of our locality», he said.
The former students, on their part, expressed their pride in having significantly contributed to the improvement of EPP Gbonvie 1 A/B.
Koffi Toulabo, president of the project group, shared the progress made so far in the ongoing renovation at EPP Gbonvie 1/AB. He announced that the next step would involve renovating the school buildings.
« The next stages of the project include renovating the buildings, the library, and a well-equipped computer room. With a goal of completion by April 2024, we rely on continued donor awareness to achieve our objectives », he stated.
The group of former students is committed to supporting education and, in turn, other projects aimed at strengthening the positive impact on their community.
The presentation of accomplishments was marked by a football gala called the «Christmas Football Tournament». For the former students, the Christmas football tournament and renovation work are part of a broader vision to create a dynamic, clean, and prosperous neighborhood for future generations.
It’s worth noting that eight teams competed in the tournament. Trophies, medals, and envelopes were awarded to the teams based on their performances, with FC Mosquée crowned the champion of this memorable tournament.
