Niger : UN Recognizes Legitimacy of Tiani Government, ECOWAS Challenged
The Verification Commission of the United Nations General Assembly has acknowledged the legitimacy of the government formed on July 26 in Niger. According to international law, this commission confirmed on December 6 that the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), led by General Abdourahamane Tiani, is fully recognized as the Head of State of Niger by this UN body.
This recognition questions the stance of ECOWAS and raises concerns about its analysis of community and international law regarding the Niger issue.
