Burkina Faso : President Ibrahim Traoré’s Commitments to Support Priority Sectors in the 2024 Budget

Burkina Faso recently presented its budget for the year 2024, highlighting crucial priorities for the country’s development. Here is an overview of the main allocations and changes compared to the previous year:

  • Expenditures and Social Security : A notable increase of 29.49%, rising from 28.42% in 2023 to 29.49% in 2024, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to social sectors.
  • Health: An allocation of 11.90%, equivalent to 330.6 billion XOF excluding external financing, demonstrating the intention to strengthen health infrastructure and services.
  • Education : A significant increase of 26.26%, reaching 729.6 billion XOF (excluding external financing), compared to 689.5 billion XOF in 2023, highlighting the importance given to education.
  • Rural Development: A 5.0% increase excluding external financing, representing 137.7 billion XOF, an increase of 21.3 billion XOF compared to 2023.
  • Humanitarian Sector: An increase of 1.8%, reaching 49.9 billion XOF excluding external financing, demonstrating commitment to humanitarian initiatives.
