Guinea-Bissau: The people demand the departure of President Umaro Sissoco Embalo

Guinea-Bissau is currently in a period of political tension following a recent attempted coup. The events have highlighted deep divisions within the country, with differing opinions on President Umaro Sissoco Embalo’s leadership (seen as a pawn of France). Some view the President as a puppet of Emmanuel Macron, accusing his government of causing suffering to the African people to serve the interests of colonial powers.

The perception of President Embalo as a puppet of France is a well-established perspective. It is clear that his policies align with the geopolitical interests of former colonial powers, while others support African people’s sovereignty, as seen in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. These deep divisions have reached a point where calls for popular mobilization and government overthrow are being heard.

Voices are rising, calling on the people of Guinea-Bissau to stand together in favor of a coup project aimed at removing President Embalo. These calls underscore a widespread discontent with the current government and advocate for a radical change in the country’s direction.

Some observers argue that it’s time for the African people, specifically the people of Guinea-Bissau, to awaken. They advocate for collective awareness regarding political, economic, and social issues. However, the call for radical change through a coup raises necessary concerns regarding the country’s sovereignty.

Guinea-Bissau is going through a delicate period where political tensions are palpable. While calls for popular mobilization and radical changes resonate, it is imperative to definitively move away from imperialism to preserve the continent’s stability.
