Burkina Faso / A New Stage In Cooperation Between Burkina Faso And The Grand Duchy Of Luxembourg: Youth Employment In Perspective

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabés from abroad,Minister Olivia ROUAMBA , had the honor of receiving the Business Manager of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mr Joseph SENNINGER, during a cordial meeting on August 22, 2023 in Ouagadougou. The meeting marked the end of a four-year mandate for the Luxembourg diplomat in Burkina Faso, and provided an opportunity to take positive stock of achievements and discuss future projects to strengthen ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, Minister Olivia ROUAMBA expressed Burkina Faso’s deep gratitude to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for its ongoing commitment to the country. She underlined the importance of Luxembourg’s actions in Burkina Faso in crucial areas such as education, the economy, the environment, and technical and vocational training. These initiatives have had a significant impact on Burkina Faso’s socio-economic development, and have benefited numerous communities across the country.

Mr Joseph SENNINGER gave a satisfactory assessment of his stay in Burkina Faso. He underlined the progress made during the four years of close collaboration between the two nations. He also reaffirmed the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its cooperation with Burkina Faso.

With this in mind, Mr. SENNINGER announced a promising project to support Burkina Faso’s youth. The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg plans to implement a Youth Employment Program in partnership with the European Union and Austria. The program, estimated to cost twenty-six (26) billion FCFA, will target young people in the High-Basins, Center-West and Boucle du Mouhoun regions. The main objective of this project will be to create employment opportunities for young people, thereby contributing to their personal development and the economic growth of these regions.

Minister Olivia ROUAMBA welcomed the initiative, underlining its importance for the future of Burkina Faso. She expressed her confidence in the continued fruitful collaboration between the two countries, and thanked the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for its ongoing commitment to Burkina Faso.
