Burkina Faso: the National Center for Strategic Studies presents its first activity report

The first activity report of the National Center for Strategic Studies is now known. A delegation from this Institution created in 2020 was received on Monday, April 3th at the Presidential palace of Burkina Faso   to present the document to the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. This act is in line with the texts governing the functioning of the Center, which stipulate that the Director General must submit an annual general report each year.

«This is the very first report that the Center has presented to the Head of State. It summarizes all of our activities since 2020, the year of creation of the National Center for Strategic Studies», said Brigadier Barthélémy Simporé, Director General of the CNES, at the end of the presentation.

The report covers achievements such as the elaboration works of the national strategy to fight terrorism carried out between 2020 and 2021. It also covers the five studies conducted by the Center in collaboration with experts and researchers on topics related to the strategic context

The assessment of these activities also includes partnerships developed by the CNES with research structures and partners at the sub-regional level.

Despite the fact that it is still a young institution, the National Center for Strategic Studies (CNES) has already achieved significant gains, as stated by the Director general of the Center. According to him, these achievements will support Burkina Faso’s national defense and security policy.

General Simporé also mentioned that the delegation took the opportunity to make a plea to President Ibrahim Traoré for «a stronger institutional support to enable the Center to better fulfill its role in anticipating and assisting in decision-making»
