Burkina-Faso: The President of the MPSR makes agriculture a means of development for Faso.

The leader of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration (MPSR), Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has made agriculture one of the main priorities for the development of Burkina Faso. An agricultural exchange has just opened on Tuesday 6 December 2022 in Ouagadougou, for the promotion of food security and sovereignty, thus constituting a hand-hold for producers.

The new strong man of Burkina Faso had made it clear in several of his speeches that he and his administration have come to reclaim the integrity of the national territory, occupied in places by terrorists, and to make development a reality in Faso. The word joins the deed!

Since his accession to power, Captain Ibrahim Traoré has shown the whole world that his words and actions are legible. In particular, he is trying to restore the agricultural system in the country of the « Honest Men » to its rightful place. Indeed, this agricultural exchange aims to promote the networking of Burkina Faso’s farmers, to create partnerships and to encourage dialogue for a better marketing of the country’s agricultural products.

Indeed, the majority of the Burkinabe people are farmers, so much so that the various national public policies have been essentially focused on agriculture. Because of the liberalisation of the world and markets, it is important to guide producers to better master the market in order to open up outlets, offer them the possibility of selling agricultural surpluses and give them the opportunity to increase their income, because a producer who increases his income is a producer who invests in his farm.

Burkina-Faso is going through a difficult period manifested by various crises. Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s objective for the Burkinabe population, beyond the territorial reconquest, is to give a new lease of life to all his compatriots afflicted by the double security and humanitarian crisis. This is why, during his participation in the first Council of Ministers on 9 November, President Ibrahim Traoré validated a report on the adoption of an operational plan to support the 2022-2023 dry season agricultural campaign.

However, the estimated cost of this operational plan is 10,624,603,326 CFA francs, of which 8,140,019,716 CFA francs have already been mobilised. This plan will allow, among other things, the securing of dams, the agricultural development of large irrigated areas of more than 100 hectares, the agricultural development of small and medium irrigated areas of less than 100 hectares, as well as the creation and development of irrigated areas around large flow boreholes, on 250 sites already developed and 100 new agricultural farms. As far as this agricultural resource is concerned, it is one of the best paths to take if Burkina Faso wants to initiate development.

Therefore, it is expected that buyers and sellers will be able to sign contracts, including deliveries, by the end of the 2022 Agricultural Exchange.
