FC Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez part ways

Xavi Hernandez’s tenure as FC Barcelona’s coach has officially ended. The club announced his departure, marking the conclusion of his coaching role that began in January 2021. Despite initial plans for Xavi to stay until his contract ended in 2025, recent internal conflicts led to his termination.

Xavi’s candid revelations about the club’s internal issues infuriated President Joan Laporta, resulting in his dismissal.

Xavi will lead his final match as coach next Sunday in Seville, after which Barcelona will announce a new coaching structure.

The club thanked Xavi for his contributions both as a player and coach and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Xavi’s coaching stint saw mixed results. He took over a struggling team in January 2021, elevating them from ninth to second place with help from new signings like Aubameyang and Adama Traoré. U

Under his leadership, Barcelona won a Supercopa de España and a La Liga title, reviving hope domestically.

However, Xavi’s European campaigns were less successful, with early exits in the Champions League and Europa League, and a painful quarter-final loss to PSG this year.

Overall, Xavi’s record with Barcelona includes 140 matches, 88 wins, 23 draws, and 23 losses.
