Al-Hilal triumphs over Al-Nassr: Saudi Super Cup Semifinal showdown recap

In a highly anticipated clash between Saudi Arabia’s top teams, Al-Nassr faced off against Al-Hilal in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo leading Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, with Ronaldo receiving a red card.

Both teams showcased impressive form, sparking significant interest in the match.

Al-Nassr, buoyed by Ronaldo, had won their previous four games convincingly, while Al-Hilal remained undefeated since August 2023, even setting a world record of 32 unbeaten matches.

While the Blue and whites had dominated Al-Nassr in their last encounter, Al-Nassr had previously defeated Al-Hilal in the Arab Club Champions Cup final.

The match not only determined a spot in the Super Cup final but also represented the Riyadh derby.

Despite Al-Nassr’s first-half goal being disallowed due to Ronaldo’s offside position, the men aof Jorge Jesus secured the lead with goals from Salem Al-Dawsari and Malcom.

Ronaldo’s red card further tilted the game in Al-Hilal’s favour, although Sadio Mané managed to score a consolation goal for Al-Nassr.

With a 2-1 victory, the team of  Salem Al-Dawsari advanced to the Super Cup final against Al-Ittihad.
