Togo / Digital Revolution : Towards a Modern Administration, the Ministry of Commerce Launches the Digitalization of its Services

Togo, under the vision of President Faure Gnassingbé, is boldly turning towards the digitization of its administrative services, with the Ministry of Commerce, Local Consumption, and Industry at the forefront of this transformation. Under the leadership of Rose Kayo Mivedo, the ministry initiated this change during a meeting held on Friday, February 2, 2024, in collaboration with the Togo Digital Agency (ATD), which will be the main engine and operational support for this initiative.

The primary objective of this digitization, according to Rose Kayi Mivedor, is to improve the processing times of files and requests within the ministry while automating certain key processes. The initial projections from the ATD, presented by the agency’s CEO, Kafui Ekouhoho, aim to achieve tangible results in three months regarding the digitization of procedures.

The agency will follow a gradual approach, continuously providing various products to the Ministry of Commerce as part of this digital transition.

The process will commence with the complete online availability of administrative procedures managed by the ministry, followed by the availability of online forms. Once these steps are completed, the next phase will involve digitizing the administrative procedures themselves. Various services are already considered for this digitization, including the authorization for placing food products on the market, the Import-Export card for the commerce department, as well as the examination of the Apprenticeship Certification and the Apprenticeship Diploma for the craft department.

It is noteworthy that this initiative by the Ministry of Commerce aligns with the broader ambition of the Togolese government to digitize 75% of its public services by 2025, marking a significant step towards a more modern and efficient administration.
