Mali/FAMa Day: Encouraging Actions of President Assimi GOÏTA for the Malian Army

The transitional president and head of state, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, expresses an encouraging and appreciative outlook towards the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa). They were honored with all the respects due to them on the occasion of the commemoration of the 63rd anniversary of the creation of the Malian army on Saturday, January 20th.

In addition to the usual wreath-laying ceremony at the foot of the Unknown Soldier monument, presided over by the head of state, Assimi GOÏTA, deserving military personnel were decorated. Those who lost their lives in battles were also posthumously honored with the National Merit Medal featuring a bee emblem.

According to reports, officers and non-commissioned officers were decorated with the Military Valor Cross, acknowledging their acts of bravery and determination. The ceremony also included the presentation of the Military Merit Medal. War wounded were not left out ; they received the Wounded Medal in recognition of their dedication.

Among them, enlisted soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and an officer of the Malian army were honored for their courage and sacrifice to the nation. This took place during a lunch organized by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, at the Army Polyclinic in Kati, marking the FAMa Day.

A meal-sharing aimed at boosting their morale and wishing them a speedy recovery. In a significant gesture, according to reports, the Transitional President also handed over a check of over six billion FCFA to the Minister of Defense and Veterans, dedicated to the families of soldiers who fell in the line of duty.

He also called on all military and civilian actors to collaborate synergistically for the continuation of the fight.
