Burkina Faso: The truth about the death of Major Tohougobou Ismaël

When questioned by our correspondent in Ouagadougou, Mr Martial Sanfo, a companion of Major Tohougobou Ismaël, made some surprising statements about the latter’s intentions.

He categorically refused to appear in court and even preferred death to prison.

According to Mr Martial Sanfo, just two days ago his friend confided in him that he had been involved in a failed coup plot.

He also said that he would never respond to a judicial summons. Major Tohougobou Ismaël is said to have insisted that he would not be arrested and that, if he were, it would mean his death.

In conclusion, Major Tohougobou Ismaël is said to have confessed his involvement in the foiled coup attempt and to have refused to submit to justice.

As for his friend Martial Sanfo, he deplored his friend’s attitude and advised him to respond to the judicial summons.

A special edition is planned to cover this case in detail.
