The 2nd edition of AngoJazz pays tribute to saxophonist Sanguito
The second edition of the International Jazz Festival took place in the Angolan capital, Luanda, from 6 to 8 October 2023.
With performances by national and international musicians, the event allowed Angolans to appreciate the great diversity of this musical genre originating in the South of the United States.
During the festival, visitors and participants had at their disposal a wide choice of workshops, improvisation sessions and various courses. Training was even offered to local musicians.
The event was organized for the first time in 2019 by Dimbo Makiesse, an Angolan pianist. This year, in addition to government support, the festival was supported by the French Embassy in Angola and the Angola-Brazil Cultural Centre.
This edition paid tribute to the saxophonist Sanguito, considered the emblem of Jazz in Angola.
