Burkina Faso / Revolutionary Leadership: President Ibrahim Traoré, special guest of the King of Saudi Arabia for two large-scale summits scheduled for 10 and 11 November

President Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State and President of the Burkinabe Revolution, recently received a special invitation from the King of Saudi Arabia. A gesture that testifies to the international recognition of his revolutionary leadership.

At an audience earlier this week, Ahmad Bin Abdulaziz Kattan, Advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia, personally delivered a message from the Saudi King to President Traoré. During the meeting, the two dignitaries spoke of the fruitful relations between their respective countries, and the advisor conveyed the greetings of the King of Saudi Arabia and his Crown Prince to the President of the Transition.

The special invitation was not limited to mere diplomatic greetings. The royal messenger also invited the Head of State to attend two major summits scheduled for 10 and 11 November in Saudi Arabia: The Afro-Saudi Summit and the Arab-African Summit.

According to Olivia Rouamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation and Minister for Burkinabè Abroad, these summits should provide an opportunity to sign several agreements and release major funding for large-scale projects supported by Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia, which will benefit the people of Burkina Faso.

Among the topics discussed during the meeting was cooperation in the field of infrastructure. Burkina Faso expressed its interest in submitting projects to Saudi Arabia for financing, while the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its commitment to supporting the construction of crucial infrastructure for the benefit of the people of Burkina Faso.

Another aspect of this audience was Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the Universal Expo in 2030. The representative of the King of Saudi Arabia took the opportunity to ask for Burkina Faso’s support for this bid, an appeal that received the full backing of the President of the Transition. This testifies to the solidarity between the two nations and their desire to work together on an international scale.

The invitation and the discussions that followed clearly illustrate the international recognition of the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré and open up new opportunities for fruitful cooperation between Burkina Faso and Saudi Arabia.
