NIGER: MOHAMED BAZOUM WILL HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE TO THE PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNTRY. GENERAL TIANI, FIRM ON HIS POSITION WILL NOT BRING HIM BACK

In Niger, ousted President Mohamed Bazoum must face the facts he will no longer find the presidential chair, he has lost it forever. At least that is what we can understand from the interview given by former Nigerian President and ECOWAS envoy Abdulsalami Abubakar.

At the head of a delegation from the regional organization, the former Nigerian head of state went to Niamey on August 19, where he was able for the first time to be received by the new masters of the country and exchanged with the deposed president Mohamed Bazoum. if no official communication was made directly at the end of this trip, President Abdulsalami Abubakar comes after a few days to lift a corner of the veil on the substance of the exchanges with the leaders of the CNSP.

According to the confidences made to the colleagues of the BBC in Hausa language, the new authorities do not intend to relent in the face of sanctions and agitated threats against Niger. Abdourahamane Tiani and his men certainly remain open to dialogue. however, the question of a return to power of the overthrown president, Mohamed Bazoum was no longer on the agenda of the CNSP, revealed the ECOWAS chief envoy. For General Abdourahamane Tiani this page is definitely closed and we have to move on. clearly, the new President remains firm on his position, there is no question of a return of Bazoum to power.

He «stressed that they have already deposed President Bazoum and that the question of his return to power will not be possible. they said they would not do it, that they would not bring Bazoum back to power, but that they would be ready to negotiate on anything else» suggested the former Nigerian president.

According to him, the ruling junta in Niamey remains available to discuss with ECOWAS the reopening of borders and the resumption of electricity supply. Because, even in times of war, there is humanity in authorizing drugs in a country, indicated the leaders of the CNSP
