Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré achieves a victory against terrorism with the arrest of two EIGS leaders

President Ibrahim Traoré is more determined than ever to defeat terrorism on Burkinabe soil and reclaim national territory. In a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, two terrorist leaders of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (EIGS) were arrested in early July near the border with Burkina Faso, according to security sources.

The individuals in question, identified as Abou Maryam, also known as Zaïd, and Sita Ousseini, nicknamed Loukmane, are terrorist leaders and members of EIGS who were wanted by authorities.

A reward of 150 million FCFA was set for the capture of Zaïd and 175 million FCFA for Loukmane, highlighting their dangerousness and the importance of apprehending them.

The arrest of these two high-ranking EIGS officials is considered a crucial advancement in the fight against terrorism in Burkina Faso. President Ibrahim Traoré is committed to eradicating this threat.

Burkina Faso has faced a series of terrorist attacks in recent years, primarily by groups affiliated with EIGS and Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).

These groups have spread terror in the country, targeting both civilians and defense and security forces, and seeking to destabilize the state.

The capture of Zaïd and Loukmane sends a strong message to terrorist groups active in the region.

It demonstrates that Burkina Faso is determined to combat terrorism and that no effort will be spared to ensure security and peace in the country.

This arrest is just a step in the fight against terrorism. President Traoré is committed to continuing operations to dismantle terrorist networks and track down their leaders.

The arrest of these two EIGS leaders is a significant step towards achieving Burkina Faso’s national security objective.

It reinforces hope for a peaceful and prosperous future for the country, where citizens can live without fear and thrive in stability.

As Burkina Faso continues to combat terrorism, it remains committed to preserving its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and ensuring the security of its population.

The capture of Zaïd and Loukmane is an important milestone in this battle, but vigilance and sustained efforts will be necessary to maintain the progress made and overcome future challenges.
