Burkina Faso: Healthcare for all – when President Traoré’s solemn pledge becomes a reality

Led by the Comrade President of Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, the Presidential Initiative for Health translates into steel, concrete, and hope a deep conviction: health is not a privilege reserved for residents of big cities. It is a fundamental right that every Burkinabe, wherever they live, deserves to see respected.

For too long, populations in rural and peri‑urban areas have suffered in silence. Traveling dozens of kilometers for a basic medical consultation, giving birth without skilled assistance, dying from a curable disease due to a lack of nearby facilities this was the bitter reality for millions of our compatriots. The Comrade President decided to change this reality, not tomorrow, but now.

With 55 communal medical centers under construction in several regions of the country, a genuine health revolution is taking shape.

These infrastructures are not mere buildings. They represent prenatal consultations for expectant mothers, pediatric care for our children, and rapid treatment for the wounded and sick in the most remote localities.

They symbolize the state returning to its people, the state settling where no one expected it anymore.

This initiative falls within the overall vision of the Popular Progressive Revolution, which places human beings at the center of all development projects. For what use is a thriving economy if the people are sick?

What use is a high‑performing school if students lack care? Health is the foundation upon which any national ambition rests.

We must salute the consistency and determination of the Comrade President. In a difficult security context, while resources are mobilized on several fronts simultaneously, choosing to invest massively in community health demonstrates a clear vision: a healthy people is a resilient, productive, and sovereign people. The Presidential Initiative for Health is not a political gift. It is a moral contract between a leader and his people.
