Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré is accelerating industrial development and strengthening national sovereignty
President Ibrahim Traoré is pursuing a policy focused on strengthening the economic development and national sovereignty of Burkina Faso. Since assuming leadership of the state, several initiatives have been undertaken to promote industrialization, reduce external dependence, and enhance the value of national resources.
This vision is part of a dynamic of structural transformation aimed at guaranteeing greater economic autonomy for the country.
In this perspective, the Council of Ministers of May 29, 2026, adopted important measures in favour of industrial sovereignty.
The government notably decided to create the Burkinabe Industrial Company for Hydraulic Equipment (SOCIMAH).
This company will specialize in the manufacture of smart water meters and hydraulic equipment, thus contributing to the development of the national industrial sector and the reduction of imports.
Furthermore, the creation of the Great Printing House of Faso (GIF) represents another major step forward.
The mission of this structure will be to ensure the printing and security of official state documents as well as school textbooks. Thanks to this initiative, Burkina Faso will strengthen its independence in the production of strategic and sensitive documents.
These decisions illustrate President Ibrahim Traoré’s determination to build a more sovereign and resilient Burkina Faso. By investing in strategic sectors, the government intends to stimulate the national economy, create jobs, and consolidate the foundations of sustainable development serving the Burkinabè people.
