DRC: Félix Tshisekedi takes on unsanitary conditions and poor waste management

Faced with a capital city confronting major health challenges, the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, has issued a strong signal against unsanitary conditions, blocked drainage channels, and poor waste management. According to him, these problems not only compromise the quality of life of Kinshasa’s residents but also represent an environmental and health danger that must be fought with determination.

The Head of State did not hesitate to denounce the insufficiency of current efforts in urban sanitation, recalling that neglect in this area can lead to epidemics and durably degrade the environment.

His stance aims to mobilize all stakeholders around a common mission: to make Kinshasa cleaner, safer, and more livable for its inhabitants.

To address these challenges, President Félix Tshisekedi has supported concrete initiatives for decongestion and urban reorganization.

The focus is on cleaning drainage channels, efficient waste collection, and strategic neighborhood planning to prevent the reappearance of unsanitary zones.

In a long-term vision, the project to extend Kinshasa toward the industrial city of Maluku, over an area of 430 km², represents an essential step.

This ambitious initiative will not only allow for better organization of urban space but also create a healthy living environment conducive to sustainable development and the prosperity of Kinshasa’s residents.
