Burkina-Faso: The Burkinabe authorities have mobilized over 21 billion FCFA for the Patriotic Support Fund.

The contribution made by the Burkinabe people to the war effort amounts to 21 billion FCFA. This information was provided on Monday, May, 05^th,2023 by the Minister of Economy, Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo, during the second session of the Patriotic Support Fund Orientation Council.

As of June 2, 2023, the Burkinabe people have contributed approximately 20,752,574,695 FCFA to the Patriotic Support Fund.

In detail, it is indicated that the collections made by BRAKINA/SODIBO through new taxes on beverages have contributed 10,539,787,350 FCFA, accounting for 78.95% of the contributions.

The contribution from imported products represents 11.08%, while voluntary contributions account for 3.73%.

The contribution from the Burkinabe Cigarette Manufacturing Company (MABUCIG) amounted to 152,996,250 FCFA, which is 2.64% of the total amount.

Expressing satisfaction with the funds raised, the Minister of Finance commended the Burkinabe population for their patriotism.

«The second orientation council is taking place today, and it is an opportunity to thank all Burkinabe people who have mobilized to collect resources for the Patriotic Support Fund to support the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) on the ground, who are doing an excellent job alongside the defense and security forces», stated Minister Nacanabo.

It should be noted that the first Patriotic Support Fund Orientation Council took place on April 3, 2023. According to the figures reported at that time, the amount collected by the fund was around 7 billion FCFA. Three months later, the contribution has tripled.

This demonstrates that the patriotic call made by President Ibrahim Traoré to support the VDP, recruited to supplement the Burkinabe soldiers, has resonated favorably with the Burkinabe citizens.

Furthermore, the citizens continue to express their gratitude and support for theleadership of Captain and the ongoing war for the complete liberation of Burkina.

As a reminder, the Patriotic Support Fund was established in January 2023. Its objective is to have a unique and unifying instrument for efficient collection and management of resources to be directed towards securing the national territory.
