Football/ end of an era marked by tension: Rennes dismiss Habib Beye amid collapse

Stade Rennais has officially parted ways with manager Habib Beye and his entire staff after a dramatic collapse in form. The decision, finalised Monday, follows a run of one draw and four defeats, including a crushing Coupe de France exit to Marseille.

Reserve team coach Sébastien Tambouret takes interim charge. However, former Nice and Lens manager Franck Haise is the strong favourite to be appointed permanently in the coming days.

The Beye’s departure of Habib Beye ends a tenure that began promisingly in January 2025 but soured amid deteriorating performances and reported internal tensions.

Despite owner François Pinault’s past support, the club’s hierarchy opted for change with Rennes, now sixth, seeing their European hopes fade and panic setting in after two seasons without continental football.
