Jonathan David’s Juventus future in doubt after disappointing start

Jonathan David’s tenure at Juventus could be cut short, with a January exit reportedly on the cards after a troubled start. The Canadian striker, who joined on a free transfer last summer, has managed just one goal in 12 appearances.

Beyond the poor statistics, his overall contribution has drawn heavy criticism from Italian media and fans. Described as a “mix of clumsiness and discouragement,” David has lost his starting spot and was notably absent from key squads, including the match against Real Madrid and new manager Luciano Spalletti’s debut games.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, David is no longer considered the first-choice striker, with Spalletti preferring Dušan Vlahović and even seeking to extend the Serbian’s contract. This has accelerated talks of a winter departure.

Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Chelsea—previously linked with the 25-year-old—are monitoring the situation. Just months after his high-profile arrival, David’s time in Turin already appears to be nearing an abrupt end.
