Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré opens the 15th edition of FIRST, science and innovation at the service of industrial recovery

The President of Burkina Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, presided over the opening ceremony of the fifteenth edition of the National Forum for Scientific Research and Technological Innovation (FIRST) in Ouagadougou on Wednesday, 22 October 2025.
This major national science and innovation event is being held this year under the theme: “What contributions can technologies, inventions and innovations make in the context of Burkina Faso’s industrial recovery?”
This 15th edition, marked by strong mobilisation from the scientific, academic and industrial communities, highlights regional cooperation and the exchange of experiences.

To this end, the Republic of Mali, a brother country and strategic partner, is the guest of honour at this year’s event.
Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso is thus reaffirming its commitment to placing science and technology at the heart of economic and social transformation, in order to build a strong, independent national industry with a promising future for the youth of Burkina Faso.
