Mali: Successful escort and security operations on the Gao-Labbezanga route

The Malian Army continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to serving the people through escort and security operations carried out with rigor and professionalism. In the face of the persistent terrorist threat, the Command of the 1st Military Region has stepped up efforts to ensure the regular supply of food and fuel to the city of Gao—both vital to the daily lives of its inhabitants.
On September 24, 2025, a combined mission, made up of commando and airborne units, escorted a convoy of thirty fuel tankers from Labbezanga. This operation brought the total number of tankers delivered within a week to more than sixty, underscoring the determination of the armed forces to prevent shortages and counter the risks of speculation in the region.
Colonel Ibrahim Samassa, the Zone Commander, stressed that these operations are primarily aimed at maintaining a steady flow of supplies while ensuring the safety of people and property. Thanks to close coordination with economic operators, the convoy reached its destination without incident, demonstrating the effectiveness of the measures put in place.
These recurring actions reflect the Malian Army’s determination to remain close to the population, respond to essential needs, and guarantee security in a challenging environment. Through such missions, it reaffirms its central role in protecting the national territory and supporting the resilience efforts of local communities.
