Burkina Faso: Dr. Aboubacar Nacanabo, a commitment to financial inclusion and economic sovereignty

Under the leadership of Dr Aboubacar Nacanabo, the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning of Burkina Faso has become a central pillar of national reconstruction. Since his appointment by President Ibrahim Traoré, Minister Nacanabo has implemented bold reforms that have revived the national economy, despite a difficult security situation and global challenges.
The Minister has been able to mobilise the country’s internal resources with rigour and efficiency.
Thanks to improved tax collection and the fight against fraud, tax revenues increased by more than 205 billion CFA francs between 2023 and 2024.
This performance has made it possible to finance priority projects in the areas of health, education and security.
To protect the purchasing power of the Burkinabe people, the ministry, under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, worked to regulate food prices. These measures ensured more equitable access to basic necessities.
The modernisation of administrative procedures is also at the heart of the reforms initiated under President Traoré.
Dr Nacanabo has launched a digitalisation of revenue agencies, strengthened financial audits and streamlined public spending.
These efforts have also reduced the budget deficit and improved transparency in the management of public funds.
Today, despite the challenges it faces, Burkina Faso is moving forward with determination towards economic sovereignty, championed by President Ibrahim Traoré and masterfully managed by Minister Aboubacar Nacanabo.
