Society: My entire life is evidence”: Brigitte Macron to submit intimate proof in U.S. defamation case

In an unprecedented legal move, French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, are prepared to present private photographic and scientific evidence in a U.S. court to disprove conspiracy claims that she was born male.
The lawsuit, filed in Delaware against right-wing commentator Candace Owens, alleges she knowingly spread falsehoods for ideological reasons.
Owens, who has repeatedly asserted the claim to her millions of followers, motioned to dismiss the case, citing jurisdictional issues.
The Macrons’ attorney, Tom Clare, confirmed his clients will provide “scientific” expert testimony and personal evidence including photos from her pregnancies to prove the allegations false.
He stated the process is “incredibly upsetting” but necessary to end the smear campaign.

This case tests American defamation law, which requires public figures to prove “actual malice” that the defendant knowingly lied.
The Macrons previously won a similar case in France, though it was later overturned on free speech grounds.
Brigitte Macron is resolved to endure the public scrutiny, her lawyer said, to “set the record straight.” The trial, should it proceed, promises to be a deeply personal and legally defining spectacle.
