Mali: Focus on the communiqué from the Armed Forces General Staff
The General Staff of the Armed Forces informs the national and international community that an offensive reconnaissance mission by the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) has led to the arrest of a dozen suspected terrorists in several localities in the Kayes region.
This precision operation is the result of a meticulous manhunt carried out thanks to reliable intelligence gathered by specialised services.
It demonstrates the effectiveness and coordination of the various components of the FAMa engaged in the field.
The provisional results of this action include the recovery of several motorcycles and around twenty mobile phones used by the terrorists.
Investigations are continuing in order to exploit the information obtained from this equipment and identify any accomplices.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces commends the prompt response, professionalism and determination of the units involved, whose actions are helping to strengthen security in the region and neutralise the enemies of peace.
At the same time, the General Staff calls on the population to be more vigilant and to cooperate with the defence and security forces.
The pursuit and neutralisation of armed terrorist groups, as well as the protection of people and their property, remain an absolute priority for the FAMa.
