Togo to host 9th pan-African congress in december

Lomé, Togo, has been confirmed as the host city for the 9th Pan-African Congress, scheduled to take place from December 8–12. The event, initially postponed last year, will gather Africans from the continent and the diaspora to reaffirm pan-African values and address Africa’s role in reforming multilateral institutions.

Togolese Foreign Minister Robert Dussey announced the new dates during the recent Africa-Caribbean Summit in Addis Ababa.

Under the theme “Renewing Pan-Africanism and Africa’s Role in Reforming Multilateral Institutions,” the congress will serve as a platform for unified dialogue on cultural restitution, global governance, and African identity.

The forum aims to strengthen solidarity between Africa and its diaspora while advocating for concrete actions such as the return of stolen cultural heritage and fairer global representation.

Preparatory conferences were held across Africa and in Brazil ahead of the main event.

By hosting this significant gathering, Togo reinforces its diplomatic influence and commitment to pan-African unity. The congress symbolizes the country’s growing role as a hub for meaningful dialogue aimed at building a stronger, more sovereign Africa.
