Burkina Faso: $250 million to strengthen the health shield
Burkina Faso will receive $250 million in funding from the Global Fund as part of the 2024-2026 partnership cycle. This funding represents a major boost to the country’s efforts to strengthen its health system and effectively combat three endemic diseases: AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
According to the authorities, this allocation will not only finance treatment and prevention, but also improve the capacity of health facilities across the country.
The resources will also be used to support the training of medical staff, the purchase of equipment and the expansion of health coverage.

The Burkinabe government has reiterated that the fight against these diseases remains a national priority, as they affect the most vulnerable populations and hinder socio-economic development.
The mobilisation of international funding complements the internal efforts already undertaken by the State, particularly within the framework of the Progressive People’s Revolution.
This renewed confidence is reflected in increased financial support, ensuring the continuation of large-scale actions.
