Mali–Norway: strategic cooperation in the service of national reconstruction

In a changing international landscape, Mali is intensifying its strategic diplomacy by diversifying its partnerships. On September 4, 2025, in Oslo, His Excellency Cheick Mahamadou Chérif Keita, Mali’s new ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, presented his credentials to His Majesty King Harald V.
This major diplomatic moment is part of a broader dynamic of redefining Mali’s alliances, driven by the President of the Transition, General Assimi Goïta, who is committed to a sovereigntist, pan-African, and pragmatic transformation of public policy.
The meeting between the Malian diplomat and the Norwegian sovereign was more than a protocol gesture.
