AES: Young people mobilised around civic values to consolidate the achievements of sovereignty

The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) is taking a new step in mobilising its youth with the upcoming 2nd edition of the Summer University for Volunteers, scheduled to take place in Bamako from 9 to 11 September 2025. This event, themed “The imperative commitment of volunteers in consolidating the achievements of the Confederation of Sahel States”, embodies the political will of member states to strengthen the unity, sovereignty and fundamental values of the Sahel through voluntary action.

More than 300 young volunteers from Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger will come together to exchange ideas, learn and actively engage in the reconstruction of their countries.

Through symbolic activities and citizen debates, this meeting aims to promote patriotic engagement, highlight indigenous cultures and encourage a sustainable volunteering dynamic.

This initiative is an essential pillar of the Confederation’s sovereignty and cohesion policy.

By placing young people at the heart of the transformation process, the AES affirms that the future of the Sahel will be built by its own forces, with dignity, solidarity and respect for its values.

This summer university is more than an event: it is an act of faith in the youth of the Sahel and their ability to uphold the Confederation’s ambitions. It reflects a Sahelian youth marching towards sovereignty and solidarity.
