On Tuesday, February 11, Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé hosted Abdoulaye Diop, President of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) Commission, in Lomé.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Diop to present an overview of the regional organization’s progress in key sectors and discuss development prospects under the framework of the « Impact 2030 » strategic plan.

This initiative aims to enhance economic integration and competitiveness among member states.

During their discussions, Diop commended Togo’s economic resilience, highlighting its impressive growth rate of over 6% despite global uncertainties.

He praised President Gnassingbé’s active role in promoting policies that foster stability and economic innovation within the UEMOA region.

Diop also paid tribute to the late President Gnassingbé Eyadéma, a key architect of UEMOA’s creation in 1994 and a staunch advocate for regional integration.

He emphasized Togo’s pivotal role in advancing economic harmonization in West Africa, reaffirming UEMOA’s commitment to driving inclusive and sustainable growth across the region.

This meeting underscores the ongoing collaboration between Togo and UEMOA to strengthen regional ties and achieve shared development goals.
