Football/ Transfert: Inter Milan secure loan deal for Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji

Inter Milan have finalized a strategic loan move for Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji. The 30-year-old Swiss international, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, will spend the season in Serie A as the English club continues its late-window squad restructuring.
The agreement includes a €2 million loan fee with a partial salary contribution from Inter. The deal features a €15 million option to buy, which becomes mandatory if two conditions are met: Akanji plays over 50% of Serie A matches, and Inter wins the league title this season.
Akanji made 136 appearances for City, contributing to eight goals and winning multiple trophies during his two seasons at the Etihad.
Despite his contract running until 2027, Pep Guardiola’s side has allowed the experienced defender to pursue a new challenge.
This move represents a shrewd piece of business for Inter, strengthening their defensive options with a proven winner at a potentially reduced cost as they aim to compete for the Scudetto.
