Football/ Memphis Depay fined and Banned from driving in Monaco

Dutch forward Memphis Depay has been handed a four-month suspended prison sentence and a €9,000 fine after being caught drunk driving in Monaco last August.

The former Atlético Madrid player, who was training in the Principality before signing with Corinthians, was stopped by police at 5:30 AM while driving a Rolls-Royce.

His breathalyzer test revealed 1.01 mg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air, exceeding the legal limit.

The Monaco Correctional Court also imposed a two-year driving ban in the city-state.

Depay admitted to the offense and now has two weeks to appeal the ruling. This incident comes as the 30-year-old striker looks to revive his career in Brazil after an injury-plagued spell in Spain.

Despite the legal setback, he remains focused on his new challenge with Corinthians.
