President Assimi Goïta commends media’s role in Mali’s transition during New Year’s ceremony
The traditional New Year’s greetings ceremony continues at the Koulouba Palace, where, on Friday, January 31, 2025, the President of the Transition, General Assimi Goïta, welcomed representatives from the High Authority for Communication (HAC), the Press House, and the National Committee for Equal Access to State Media (CNEAME).
During his address, the Head of State acknowledged the crucial role of the media in supporting the ongoing reforms led by the transitional government.
He urged journalists and communication professionals to uphold their responsibility with integrity and patriotism, ensuring accurate and balanced reporting in service of the Malian people.
President Goïta also highlighted the progress made in the media sector within the framework of the Sahel States Alliance (AES), emphasizing that the establishment of this confederation marks a new chapter for Mali.
He reaffirmed that national sovereignty and independent decision-making remain paramount, free from external influence.
Addressing the withdrawal of AES member states from ECOWAS, he justified the move as a response to the deep-seated aspirations of the people.
He underscored that, through various initiatives undertaken by the transitional government, Mali is gradually reclaiming its former strength and prestige.
« No challenge is insurmountable when the will of the people is sovereign, » President Goïta declared, pointing to significant progress in security, economic development, and diplomacy.
As Mali undergoes profound transformations, the Head of State reaffirmed his commitment to building a strong, independent, and prosperous nation, ensuring that the country continues on its path toward self-determination and stability.
