Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: Security Minister expresses support for ASVOVIG
The Agency for the Support of Widows, Orphans, and Victims of War (ASVOVIG) was established to fulfill the Burkinabe authorities’ commitment to providing meaningful support to war victims, including injured soldiers and the families of those who lost their lives defending the nation.
Officially launched on December 17, 2024, the agency has gained significant backing from the Ministry of Security to advance its mission.
ASVOVIG focuses on concrete initiatives such as empowerment programs, professional training, psychological support, and socio-economic assistance.
These efforts aim to strengthen the resilience of its beneficiaries, safeguard their dignity, and express the nation’s gratitude for their sacrifices.
During a meeting with the agency’s leadership, the Minister of Security, Commissioner General of Police Mahamadou SANA, reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to supporting ASVOVIG’s projects.
He emphasized that the agency plays a vital role in reassuring combatants on the frontlines while honouring the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.
He also called on all structures within the ministry to contribute to supporting these brave citizens who exemplify resilience, courage, and patriotism.
