Burkina Faso: Tiraogo Sougrinoma Ibrahim Guigma appointed as Director of Communication and Press Relations at the Presidency of Faso

This Tuesday afternoon, Tiraogo Sougrinoma Ibrahim Guigma was officially sworn in as the Director of Communication and Press Relations at the Presidency of Faso. The ceremony, held in the presence of Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin Medah, the President’s Chief of Staff, underscored the strategic importance of this role in enhancing institutional communication.

Captain Medah commended Guigma’s appointment, emphasizing the critical nature of the position in strengthening the government’s communication efforts.

He stressed the need for strong leadership and open collaboration, declaring, « Failure is not an option » and reaffirming the full support of the Presidency to ensure the success of the new Director’s mission.

In his response, Mr. Guigma expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the President of Faso for the trust placed in him.

He pledged to carry out his duties with dedication, referring to himself as a true « VDP of communication, » drawing a parallel with the patriotic spirit of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland.

The new DCRP promised to continue the strategic initiatives established by his predecessor, Pindgwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo, now Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism.

Guigma also emphasized the importance of teamwork, highlighting that the success of his mission depends on collective effort. « I rely on the support of my colleagues to address the communication challenges of the Presidency, » he affirmed.

Appointed during the Cabinet meeting of January 9, 2025, Guigma brings extensive experience from his previous role as the Director General of Communication and Public Relations at the Transitional Legislative Assembly.

His expertise and forward-thinking approach are expected to invigorate the Presidential communication strategy, promoting transparency and closer engagement with the public.
