Togo launches Youth Internship program to boost employment

Togo has introduced a new initiative placing 1,000 students in corporate internships, bridging education and workforce needs. Under the leadership of Faure Gnassingbé, the program offers students hands-on professional experience during academic breaks while ensuring social security coverage through the CNSS an unprecedented protection for interns.

The dual-benefit scheme allows companies to identify fresh talent while equipping youth with practical skills for today’s job market.

By exposing students to real workplace environments early, the government aims to reduce skill gaps and prepare a competent generation to drive national economic growth.

This pilot reflects Togo’s commitment to youth empowerment and human capital development, with potential for expansion based on initial results.

As African nations grapple with youth unemployment, such programs could inspire regional workforce solutions.
