Burkina-Faso: Presidential health initiative, a response from Captain Ibrahim Traoré for health systems accessible to all
True to his vision of social justice and territorial equity, Burkina Faso’s Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, relentlessly works to improve citizens’ living conditions particularly through strengthening the healthcare system. His leadership is defined not by empty promises, but by concrete achievements that directly benefit the population. The Presidential Health Initiative (IPS), driven with unwavering resolve, exemplifies this political will.
Officially launched in Béregadougou (Cascades Region), the IPS marks a decisive turning point in modernizing the country’s medical infrastructure. The ambitious plan includes :
- 55 new municipal medical centers
- 5 state-of-the-art emergency/resuscitation unitsin regional hospitals
- Advanced equipment for emergency care, laboratories, medical imaging, and minor surgical procedures
- Solar-powered energy solutions, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to sustainability
Captain Traoré doesn’t just speak; he delivers. By allocating 12% of the national budget to healthcare and slashing costs for specialized treatments (MRI, CT scans, hemodialysis), he ensures accessibility for all, including remote communities. Mobile clinics deployed nationwide further bridge gaps caused by insecurity and distance from health facilities.
Burkina Faso’s healthcare system: From crisis to progressive recovery under President Ibrahim Traoré
Formally adopted by the Council of Ministers and enacted through presidential decree, the Presidential health initiative IPS embodies Traoré’s conviction: healthcare is a fundamental right.
