Burkina Faso: 161 new police officers ready to serve the nation

Pabré, July 25, 2025 – Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalka Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, representing the President of the Nation, presided over the official graduation ceremony of the 9th class of police commissioners and officers trained at the Pabré Police Academy.

A total of 161 graduates—78 commissioners and 83 officers—were declared fit for duty after two years of intensive training. The class, named “Yantiali”, a Gourmantchéma word meaning vision, initially comprised 181 trainees, including 57 Chadians, reflecting the Academy’s pan-African mission.

Held under the theme “The Role of Police Academies in a Context of Geopolitical Reshaping and the Fight Against Terrorism”, the ceremony highlighted the crucial role of training institutions in strengthening national and regional security.

The Prime Minister urged the graduates to embody discipline, loyalty, sacrifice, and a strong sense of duty, in alignment with the sovereign vision of Burkina Faso under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

The inclusion of Chadian trainees was praised as a powerful symbol of African brotherhood, in line with the collective security goals championed by the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).

Minister of Security Mahamadou Sana emphasized the strategic role assigned to these new police officers, who are expected to operate at strategic, operational, and tactical levels.

Founded in 2013, the Pabré Police Academy has established itself as a center of excellence for the training of police leaders. On behalf of the students, delegate Edmond Ouédraogo used the occasion to call on the authorities to improve training facilities, such as shooting ranges, sports complexes, and transport vehicles.
