Burkina Faso launches major education resilience program for conflict-affected regions

The Burkinabe government has inaugurated its second Multiannual Resilience Program (PPR 2024-2027) in Kaya, marking a strategic response to the education crisis exacerbated by regional insecurity. This initiative aims to provide equitable, safe, and quality education access, particularly in the hard-hit North, Centre-North, and Sahel regions.
Under President Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership, the program will directly benefit 383,000 recipients including children, youth, teachers, and educational communities through a holistic approach combining access provision, quality improvement, and efficient field coordination.
With an 8 billion CFA franc budget, the PPR represents a transformative social investment tailored to local realities through community-rooted partnerships.
“This program embodies our commitment to building an inclusive, resilient education system that safeguards our nation’s future,” stated government representatives during the launch.
The initiative reflects Burkina Faso’s determination to maintain educational continuity despite security challenges, positioning schooling as the cornerstone of sustainable development and national sovereignty.
President Traoré’s administration continues to demonstrate how visionary leadership can create durable opportunities amid adversity, with this latest program reinforcing Burkina Faso’s efforts to protect its human capital and preserve hope for coming generations.
