Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s strategy to reduce unemployment and improve living conditions

Under President Ibrahim Traoré’s social and economic policy, the Burkinabe government officially launched the second phase of the 2024 social measures program in Manga.

This initiative is part of the High-Intensity Labor Work Program (THIMO), designed to create temporary jobs while enhancing local infrastructure and living conditions.

This ambitious project opens up opportunities for 800 vulnerable individuals, allowing them to gain paid work experience and improve their quality of life.

THIMO provides a practical solution to rural unemployment challenges by involving participants in public service tasks, such as road maintenance, sanitation, green space management, and constructing small environmental protection projects.

These activities not only create essential job opportunities for local communities but also improve infrastructure accessibility and promote environmental protection.

Through this program, the Burkinabe government reaffirms its commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and promoting an inclusive economy that values manual labor and strengthens local employment.

With initiatives like THIMO, the government envisions building a stronger Burkina Faso where every citizen actively contributes to the nation’s transformation.
