Togo: President Faure Gnassingbé’s vision of universal access to electricity becomes a reality with the Tinga Fund

President Faure Gnassingbé’s vision of providing electricity access to every Togolese citizen is steadily becoming a reality through targeted and inclusive initiatives. Central to this effort is the Tinga Fund, established by the government, which plays a crucial role in expanding electrical coverage across Togo.

To date, this fund has enabled approximately 21,430 households to connect to the national grid, thereby reducing access inequalities and enhancing living conditions in both urban and rural areas.

This initiative reflects the Togolese government’s commitment to making electricity more accessible and affordable for all. By offering financial support for low-income families to connect to the grid, the Tinga Fund eases the economic burden for many, aligning with a broader strategy to achieve universal electrification. This aligns with the aspirations of Togolese citizens for fair and inclusive development.

The effects of this policy are visible, as electricity coverage rates continue to expand, reaching previously isolated communities. With these advancements, citizens not only enjoy improved comfort in their homes but also gain new economic opportunities, as access to electricity stimulates local commercial and artisanal activities.

By building on these achievements and advancing infrastructure projects, the Togolese government is laying the groundwork for a future where every household has access to reliable and continuous energy.
